KIRAN — urban poverty alleviation
KIRAN responds to the challenges faced by migrant and marginalised communities in urban slums, including inadequate housing, unemployment, sanitation challenges, limited healthcare and lack of social protection.
Workers’ collectives
In previously reported community initiatives, PREM MARG formed 22 self-help groups for domestic workers with 356 active members, and five groups for construction workers with 73 active members. These groups encourage mutual support, awareness, welfare, livelihood strengthening and social security.
Access to welfare
PREM MARG has facilitated labour cards and e-Shram registration for unorganised workers, helping them access government welfare schemes, social-security benefits and future pension-related support.
Healthy families & sustainable living
Through health, hygiene, organic agriculture, kitchen gardening, nutrition and community outreach initiatives, PREM MARG promotes healthier lifestyles and greater resilience among vulnerable rural and urban families.
